As we all agree that to promote a brand, the first and foremost thing is to have good packaging criteria on a product. The more attractive the product packaging and design will look, the more promotion a brand will have. After seeing a good packaging and design, we like to buy it.

You are forgetting about after sales marketing. Very important for daily goods, as people scan the store for the products they know. (on-line and off-line)

In on-line stores, software is represented as the type of box software used to be sold in. Even though that is not relevant for the product, and the actual box was never created. Imagine how shampoo will be represented, if not in the bottle we know today. Just a blob? ;-)
A brand-less bottle is not an option.

It is a step towards less design for secondary packaging. The carton box holding the perfume bottle, the wrap around 6 soda bottles...

Very clever.... So Home Plus are Tesco in Asia, right??

Is this one step towards the end of packaging as decoration and a factor in which product the customer reaches for Brand X to place it in their shopping cart?

I see brown cartons and white labels with black text being delivered to the customers home as the stimulus and drive for beautiful packaging is at the point of purchase NOT within the home.

Food for thought!

It may look nice, but everybody (and certainly designers) should be aware that the iPhone screen is NOT color calibrated and therefor should NEVER be used as a color reference.

Check out the tests that we did: http://www.graphicbrain.com/studies-by-vigc/mypantone-on-iphone/
